Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, whisk together the olive oil, barbecue sauce, minced garlic, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. This will be your marinade.
  2. Place the peeled and deveined shrimp in a resealable plastic bag or a bowl.
  3. Pour the marinade over the shrimp, making sure they are well coated. Seal the bag or cover the bowl with plastic wrap. Place in the refrigerator and let the shrimp marinate for at least 30 minutes, but no more than 2 hours.
  4. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
  5. If you're using wooden skewers, soak them in water for about 30 minutes to prevent them from burning on the grill.
  6. Thread the marinated shrimp onto the skewers.
  7. Grease the grill grates with a bit of oil to prevent sticking. Place the shrimp skewers on the grill.
  8. Grill the shrimp for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are pink and opaque. Be careful not to overcook, as shrimp can become rubbery if cooked for too long.
  9. Once the shrimp are cooked, remove them from the grill and place them on a serving platter.
  10. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley and serve hot.
  11. You can serve the barbecue shrimp as an appetizer or as a main dish. They go well with rice, salad, or grilled vegetables.
