Instructions:

  1. Clean the squid tubes or rings by removing the skin, cartilage, and innards. Cut them into manageable pieces, keeping the size consistent for even cooking.
  2. Pat the squid pieces dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  3. Follow the instructions on the tempura batter mix package to create the batter. Usually, this involves mixing the batter mix with ice-cold water until just combined. Lumps are okay for a light and crispy texture.
  4. In a deep saucepan or deep fryer, heat enough vegetable oil to submerge the squid during frying. Heat the oil to about 350-375°F (180-190°C).
