Easy Recipe for Cooking Squid with Sweet and Sour Sauce

Here is the recipe for squid with sweet and sour sauce:


Ingredients:

  • 500 grams fresh squid, cleaned and cut into pieces (you can use fresh squid or fried them first before adding into the sauce mixture)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil for sautéing
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 2 large red chilies, sliced serong (to taste)
  • 1 large green chili, sliced serrated (to taste)
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • 2 tablespoons tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons chili sauce
  • 2 tablespoons teriyaki sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sweet and sour sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sweet soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground pepper
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch, dissolved in a little water

How to make:

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a wok or large frying pan over medium heat.
  2. Sauté onion and garlic until fragrant and lightly browned.
  3. Add the red chili, green chili, and red bell pepper. Sauté briefly until the vegetables are slightly wilted.
  4. Add squid pieces, mix well with vegetables.
  5. Add tomato sauce, chili sauce, teriyaki sauce, sweet and sour sauce, and sweet soy sauce. Stir until the squid is evenly coated with the sauce.
  6. Season with salt and ground pepper. Mix well.
  7. Pour the cornstarch solution into the pan and stir quickly until the sauce thickens.
  8. Cook for a while until the squid is fully cooked and the sauce thickens.
  9. Remove and serve the sweet and sour sauce squid with warm white rice.
