Sweet and Spicy Crab in Padang Sauce Recipe

This time, it's time for us to try making crab with padang sauce at home with the following recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 2 fresh crabs, cleaned and cut into pieces
  • 4 tablespoons cooking oil
  • 5 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 3 cm ginger, finely grated
  • 2 large red chilies, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sweet soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground pepper
  • 200 ml water
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch, dissolved in a little water
  • Scallions to taste, thinly sliced for garnish
  • Salt to taste

Instructions:

  1. Prepare a large pot and boil water with salt. Add the crab pieces and boil for 5-7 minutes until the crab is cooked. Drain and set aside.
  2. Heat cooking oil in a large wok. Sauté garlic, ginger, and red chili until fragrant.
  3. Add tomato sauce, sweet soy sauce, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, ground pepper, and water. Stir well and let it boil.
  4. Once the sauce is boiling, add the boiled crab pieces. Stir gently until the crab is evenly coated with the sauce.
  5. Pour in the cornstarch solution little by little while stirring continuously until the sauce thickens and adheres to the crab.
  6. Remove the padang sauce crab from the pan and serve on a serving plate. Garnish with sliced spring onions.
  7. Crab in Padang sauce is ready to be served. Enjoy while warm as a main dish.
